UNT Recreational Sports is looking to hire three graduate assistants for Fall 2026. The available positions include: Intramural Sports (1), Fitness (1) and Sport Clubs (1). The stipend for a first year graduate assistant is $1,424 per month and $1,675 for the second year. We offer an out of state tuition waiver and the potential to have three to six hours of in state tuition covered. Intramural Sports
Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
Assist in the organization and administration of the Intramural Program
Assist in the scheduling and management of the multi-purpose complexes
Implement the officials training program with supervision, direction, and evaluation of officials for assigned sports activities
Assist with the recruitment, hiring, and evaluation of Intramural Supervisors
Maintain payroll records and scheduling of employees
Assist with the development and evaluation of policies and procedures
Resolve conflicts that involve incidents/accidents in the program
Update IMLeagues.com for the Intramural Sports program
Completely publicize, promote, and market the Intramural Sports program
Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Kinesiology, Health Promotion or related field
Experience or general knowledge in Intramural Sport management, supervising employees, training employees, or related area of recreation
Acceptance and admittance into the University of North Texas graduate School, as a full time (9 hours or more) graduate student in Sports Management, Kinesiology, or related field of study
Strong planning and organizational skills
Strong communication skills

Fitness
The University of North Texas Recreational Sports Department is seeking a motivated and passionate Fitness Graduate Assistant to join our dynamic Fitness team. This position provides hands-on experience in fitness program administration, student staff leadership, and campus recreation operations while supporting professional growth and leadership development.
The Fitness Graduate Assistant will play a key role in the daily operations of a comprehensive collegiate fitness program, working closely with professional staff and supervising a large team of student employees.
Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
Assist with the recruitment, hiring, training, supervision, scheduling and evaluation of approximately 60 student employees, including: weight room supervisors, Frisco fitness center staff, group fitness instructors and personal trainers.
Coordinate and support fitness programs, including marketing, registration, scheduling, and program evaluation.
Plan and facilitate monthly staff meetings and First Aid/CPR/AED certification trainings.
Verify and ensure accuracy of student employee payroll by cross-checking reported hours with schedules.
Collect and compile weekly participation statistics and assist with semester and annual reports, including accident and incident data.
Support marketing and promotional efforts for the Fitness Program, including staffing outreach tables and creating/posting regular content on the fitness Instagram account.
Help maintain clean, safe, and well-functioning fitness spaces by reporting equipment or facility concerns.
Work a minimum of 20 hours per week with the Fitness Program.
Teach group fitness classes and/or provide personal training in one-on-one or small-group settings.
Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree, preferably in Recreation, Kinesiology or related field.
Knowledge of or experience in areas such as exercise physiology, biomechanics, employee supervision, staff training, or sport/recreation administration.
Acceptance and admittance into the University of North Texas Graduate School, as a full time (9 hours or more) graduate student.
Experience teaching multiple group fitness formats and/or conducting personal training sessions.
Current Personal Training and/or Group Fitness certification from one or more of the following organizations: ACE, NASM, ACSM, NSCA, CI, or NETA.

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
Assist with the daily operations of the Sport Club program, including advising the clubs in planning, budgeting and scheduling of their activities and competitions.
Oversee the Sport Club Executive Board and the Sport Club Program Assistants.
Develop leadership training and orientation sessions for club leaders.
Assist clubs with their travel and process all travel paperwork.
Organize, schedule and direct the sport club meetings.
Orient existing clubs and new clubs with the University policies and procedures.
Assist clubs with running home competitions, tournaments, and events.
Preparing and maintaining facilities for events and competitions.
Promote and market the Sport Club program.
Assist with the Risk Management of the program.
Complete the semester and annual report.
Graduate Assistant must work at least 20 hours per week with Sport Clubs
