The Yale Athletics Fellow for Campus Recreation will serve as administrative support for Yale Campus Recreation programming (including intramural sports, club sports, fitness/wellness, etc.) and Payne Whitney Gymnasium operations (including membership, staffing, event management, scheduling, etc.)
This position will adapt to the direct skills and competencies of the individual selected while also exposing and developing competencies in programs and operations of which they may have little to no experience. The goal of the position is to create a well-rounded professional, proficient in the diverse areas of collegiate recreation.
This position will directly
Gain hands-on experience in multiple aspects and areas of Campus Recreation including Operations, Aquatics, Intramurals, and Marketing.
Engage with the diverse campus community, building relationships and gaining experience with various groups and perspectives.
Lead the training and development of staff in various programs, ensuring team members are confident and knowledgeable.
Enhance departmental systems, policies, and procedures by identifying areas for improvement and developing practical, lasting solutions.
This candidate must be certified in Lifeguarding from the Red Cross (or equivalent) or willing and able obtain certification following hiring
Demonstrated and progressive experience in collegiate, public, or private recreation, athletics, or fitness industries. Experience may be in any one or combination of programmatic or operational areas (i.e. facility management, staff development/management, membership services, fitness/wellness, outdoor education, intramural sports, adult/youth sport leagues, club sports, aquatics, event management, marketing, etc.)

Provide exceptional customer service and positively engage with members, guests, and participants.
Effectively communicate with members, guests, participants, staff, and supervisors.
Serve as a leader and role model to part-time and front-line service employees.
Identify areas for improvement, provide recommendations to enhance systems, policies, and procedures and implement as needed.
Assist with department marketing efforts including website and social media management.
Candidates with strong interpersonal skills, effective communication, and capability to apply critical thinking are preferred.
Candidates with nationally accredited instructor/trainer certifications (i.e. CPR/AED and First Aid, Lifeguarding, Personal Training, Group Fitness, etc.) are preferred.
Candidates who have completed a graduate assistantship, internship, or served in a leadership role as an undergraduate within a collegiate recreation program are preferred.
Candidates with experience in membership, program, scheduling, website, or operational management software (i.e. Fusion, IMLeagues, SubItUp, WhentoWork, EMS, 25Live, Connect2Concepts, 7PointOps, etc.) are preferred.
Minimum Qualifications
Interest in working in college athletics or recreation.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Must hold or be on track to graduate with a bachelor's degree before the start of this position.
Must have a valid driver's license and have a car to drive to multiple events and facilities.
Fellows may be expected to assist on nights, weekends, and holidays.

Yale Campus Recreation is a department within the Yale University Athletics Division (YUAD).
