The University of Colorado Denver Wellness & Recreation Services is now accepting applicants from candidates for an incoming Graduate Assistant who wants to join our Competitive Sports team for a 2 year appointment starting in July of 2026.
The position is a part-time position, including a tuition stipend of $5000 per semester ($10,000 annually) and $20 per hour of work. Position will average 20 hours per week with some night and weekend work required. Professional development opportunities are also encouraged and available! Offers for this position must be made in conjunction with acceptance into a graduate program with the University of Colorado Denver.
Start Date: July 13th (negotiable)
The Graduate Assistant will report to the Competitive Sports Coordinator and serve as a mentor and leader to all undergraduate student staff and assist with the Wellness & Recreation Services department on day-to-day operations. Overall, the Graduate Assistant will be providing the University of Colorado Denver students, faculty, and staff with positive, fun, healthy, and competitive intramural and club sports activities and programs.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES - Oversee the daily operations of the Intramural Sports office - Coordinate staff schedules, program events, and officials’ trainings - Recruit, hire, mentor, train, and develop student staff - Collaborate with other campus wide departments for programming - Develop, evaluate, and enforce the policies and procedures through consultation with professionals and staff - Oversee management of our Club Sports website and social media pages - Develop marketing ideas and presentations for the program - Enforce and educate student staff and participants on risk management practices - Provide a professional presence during UCD events, which may include nights and weekends - Assist the Coordinator in managing the Competitive Sports department’s budget - Attend conferences and tournaments to promote the university and program
JOB QUALIFICATIONS - Strong communication, planning, organizational skills, and a positive attitude - Current First Aid, CPR and AED certifications or ability to obtain - Bachelor’s Degree and acceptance into a CU Denver Graduate Program - Experience or general knowledge in Competitive Sports management, supervising employees, training employees, or related areas of recreation (Preferred) - Previous successful experience in an undergraduate Intramural Sports or Club Sports position - Current knowledge of officiating practices and sport rules - Familiarity with various recreation software (IMleagues)
