Job Summary:Graduate Assistant will oversee undergraduate student supervisors and sport officials. Position requires approximately 20 hours per week and a willingness to work evenings and weekends.
Representative Duties: Assist with Intramural Sports program development.
Recruiting, hiring, training and development of supervisors/officials.
Develop and implement departmental assessment practices.
Provide reviews of assessment tools and data.
Daily reports review and follow-up.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements: Must have a strong officiating background in flag football, volleyball, basketball, soccer and/or softball. The candidate must have two years of experience officiating and/or supervising Intramural Sports activities.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Other Characteristics: Individual should have excellent skills in training/evaluating/assessment of officiating skills and mechanics; knowledge of basic sport rules; must have exceptional oral and written communication skills; must have basic computer skills and willingness to work evenings, weekends and early mornings (when needed).
Anticipated Start Date: August 1, 2024 - 10 month appointment with the opportunity for hourly summer employment leading up to appointment. Compensation Information: Tuition waivers are granted to cover nine credits of course work during the fall and spring semesters, a $12,000 dollar stipend from August to May and an option for hourly summer employment. Graduate students have access to health insurance through the University. University fees are covered by each student. Professional development assistance is available. We offer stipends for travel to state, regional and national conferences.

Job Summary:The Graduate Assistant Fitness and Wellness directly manages and coordinates the fitness program for the Emporia State University Recreation Services department. Duties include recruitment and supervision of student workers, management of Group Exercise offerings and the Personal Training program as well as providing student development opportunities. Our ideal candidate has a passion for providing exceptional customer service, experience in leading and managing a fitness program and motivating staff to their fullest potential.
Additional Department and Position Summary:
Directly manage, develop, implement and assess a fitness and wellness program that caters to over 700 unique participants, offers over 600 hours of annual personal training and 18 weekly group exercise classes
Recruit, hire, train, develop and evaluate a student staff of 15+ employees
Directly develop and manage the Fitness/Wellness Program Manager
Administer data collection and evaluation of group fitness and personal training programs
Develop cross campus/community partnerships to program and highlight the different dimensions of wellness
Assist in departmental offerings/programs and other duties as assigned
100% placement rating for individuals wishing to continue a career in campus recreation
Preferred Qualifications: Experience instructing multiple group fitness formats and/or personal training. Position requires 20 hours per week and a willingness to work evenings and weekends. Current Fitness Instructor certification through ACE, AFAA or other nationally recognized agency.
