Campus Recreation at Eastern Illinois University is seeking dynamic and enthusiastic applications for the position of Assistant Director of Operations. This position includes working with all staff members in the department including graduate assistants, facility staff, lifeguards, fitness instructors and personal trainers. We are looking for individuals interested in and qualified for:
1. Facility Management: Through the Division of Student Affairs under the direction of the Director of Campus Recreation, this person assumes responsibility for the daily operation of the Student Recreation Center and all shared facilities in Lantz Arena (during designated times). Facility management includes: facility inspections, preventative and equipment maintenance, purchasing of all equipment and supplies, work orders, maintaining contractual warranties, and facility security. Development and implementation of policies and procedures that provide safety and security for Student Recreation Center and Lantz Arena properties, personnel, and users. Assume responsibility for the development of a master schedule for facility use. Includes recruiting, hiring, supervising, and evaluating 100 student employees and 4 graduate assistants.
2. TechnologyManagement: Manage all Campus Recreation technology interfaces and equipment including facility management software, student staff scheduling software, campus-wide scheduling software, Campus Recreation Web site, social media, and all computers used by the department. Coordinate with University ITS to support our software programs and connectivity throughout the facility.
3. Administrative/ProfessionalAssignments: Prepare and present annual total program report and evaluation. Present yearly program and personal goals and objectives. Recommend and assist in initiating maintenance requests and Campus Rec improvement projects. Assist with supervision of information recreation student staff. Participate in long term and strategic planning for Campus Recreation. Develop all replacement plans for SRC equipment and technology required by the department. Assist with university recruitment initiatives, graduation ceremonies, serve on university and division wide committees, and teach First Aid/CPR/AED training for Campus Recreation and campus constituencies.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree.
A total of one (1) year (12 months) in education, training and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position. (Note: Master’s Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.)
A total of one (1) year (12 months) experience supervising students (UG and GR) in a recreation/gym environment; Experience scheduling facilities and staff including intramurals, classes, special events, and rentals; Experience with DSE, Fusion, ActiveNet, RecTrac, or other rec management software; Experience managing and directing renovation projects
Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
Skill in analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
Skill in scheduling events, programs, and activities, as well as the work of others.
Skill in oral and written communication
Ability to adjust actions in relation to others' actions.
Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense
Ability to develop goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work.
Ability to work effectively with staff, the public, and outside constituency groups
