The Department of Recreation and Wellness at UNC Greensboro is currently recruiting qualified applicants for the Assistant Director, Aquatics & Risk Management. The Assistant Director, Aquatics & Risk Management will provide effective leadership and oversee daily operations of Aquatics facilities, programs, and staff. This position will have direct supervision of the Aquatics Coordinator, a graduate assistant and 30+ student employees. This position is responsible for developing risk management policies and procedures for indoor and outdoor aquatic environments and plays an essential role in risk management and safety education across the department. The Assistant Director, Aquatics & Risk Management directs all needs for the Aquatics program, including staffing, reservations, marketing, budget, maintenance, and equipment.
This position will provide student development that reinforces and enhances classroom and academic learning through the application of employee related skills. The position is also responsible for the development of programs appropriate for various populations within the UNCG community, promoting the development of student leaders and healthy lifestyles through engagement, and programmatic assessment of student learning.
Minimum of three years of demonstrated experience in aquatics facility management and programming
Certified Instructor for First Aid, CPR, AED for the Professional Rescuer
Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) Certification or ability to obtain within 3 months of employment
Lifeguard Certification and Lifeguard Instructor (LGI)
Knowledge in planning, organizing, and implementing aquatics programs
Knowledge of pool mechanical systems and water chemistry.
Strong communication skills, both oral and written
Strong commitment to the development of students to provide leadership training, support academic success, and professional development
Budget management experience
Ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours in addition to regular University hours.
