Reporting to the Director of Campus Recreation, the Assistant Director for Fitness and Wellness oversees all aspects of fitness and wellness programming.
Plan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive fitness and wellness program for the campus community.
Provide leadership, organization, vision and oversight for fitness and wellness initiatives.
Supervise the Graduate Assistant of Fitness and all fitness staff, including the recruitment, training, scheduling, and evaluation of fitness instructors and personal trainers.
Instruct group fitness classes/train clients as needed or desired each semester.
Lead and coordinate student development opportunities including the ACE Prep Courses, certifications, workshops and conferences.
Effectively create and manage a fitness and wellness budget.
Participate in the development of annual goals and objectives for Campus Recreation.
Perform other duties as assigned
The McGee Center for Health and Wellness opened in Jan. 2017. This 70,000+sf facility includes strength, cardio, group fitness studios, functional training area, courts, suspended track and more. It is located in the heart of campus and is well utilized by our campus community.
Masters degree in Exercise Science, Higher Education, Sport Management or other related field.
Minimum of two years experience in a professional or graduate assistant role.
Group Fitness and Personal Training certifications from nationally recognized organization.
CPR/First Aid/AED instructor certification (or willing to get within a few months)
Valid Driver's license.
The ideal candidate will have experience in hiring, training and developing student instructors and personal trainers.
