GRADUATE ASSISTANT FOR INTRAMURAL SPORTS & SPORT CLUBS (1)
Purpose
The primary responsibility of the Graduate Assistant for Sport Clubs is to work directly with the Program Coordinator for Intramural Sports and Sport Clubs to enhance both programs and to oversee the day-to-day operations of the programs. The Graduate Assistant will be responsible for supervising, mentoring and recognizing the undergraduate student staff and student leaders while ensuring a fun and safe atmosphere is being created. This person will need to be able to solve on-the-job issues by utilizing effective critical thinking and decision-making skills and possess the ability to work with diverse populations. The Graduate Assistant will also be responsible with assisting with all special events implemented by Campus Recreational Services.
Minimum Qualifications

Physical Demands
- The Graduate Assistant must be able to do moderate physical activity including event setup and tear down as well as equipment inventory and storage which requires being able to lift up to 60 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with sport clubs and intramural programming including effective scheduling, organization, and training practices.
- Undergraduate participation in one or more sports clubs.
- Officiating experience in any of the following sports: basketball, football, soccer, softball/baseball, volleyball, lacrosse, and hockey.
- Experience working within campus recreation and student leadership.
- Experience with social media and an understanding of digital trends and how to integrate them into the department's marketing strategy.
- Familiarity with Management Software (RecTrac) and Google Drive is preferred, but not required.
- Experience promoting programs and events on various social media platforms.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Research best practices and make recommendations regarding risk management policies and procedures and return-to-play protocols.
- Development and coordination of the Sports Club and Intramural Programs and services, including planning, programming, implementing, tracking, and assessment.
- Monitor safety, security and risk management issues for the program and facility.
- Recruitment, training, scheduling, and evaluation of the student staff.
- Oversee and monitor student payroll within the Intramural Program.
- Knowledge of sport rules, officiating mechanics, and program policy to effectively administer staff training to 40 student staff members including supervisors, officials, and program assistants.
- Recruitment of Sport Club participants and training of club officers.
- Maintain team records, certifications, budgets, and files.
- Oversee and monitor the Sports Club budget.
- Attend Sport Club practices and events.
- Design, implement and review assessment measures for the entire program.
- Create an innovative marketing plan to increase awareness and participation in the programs.
- Work with Student Union Event Coordinators to ensure a positive and successful outcome of special events.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Staff Development:
- Develop and implement policies and procedures.
- Leadership development including creating effective student leadership training sessions related to team administrative tasks, leadership skills, communication and organization skills, and team building.
- Create training quizzes to evaluate the effectiveness of training sessions for intramural officials.
- Must act and represent CRS in a positive and professional manner.
- Maintain a professional standard of performance on daily tasks.
- Attend regularly scheduled departmental meetings for all areas necessary.
- Communicate clear and concise information as needed to patrons, guests, and Professional Staff.

Criteria for Success:
The Sports Club Graduate Assistant will be evaluated on their performance each semester. The evaluation process consists of self-evaluation, peer evaluation, and supervisor evaluation. The staff evaluation measures the following objectives:

- Ability to problem-solve, manage multiple tasks and priorities and make an informed decision independently.

Purpose
This Graduate Assistant works directly with the Program Coordinator-Memberships and Program Coordinator-Facilities/Events to ensure the success of day-to-day event, membership, and facility functions. The position requires a variety of administrative, leadership, and supervisory skills and the ability to make sound decisions while demonstrating expertise in critical thinking. Strong written and oral communication skills are required as well as collaboration with other departments on campus. This position will serve as a learning and training tool for the employee to gain the knowledge and experience necessary to continue his/her career in recreation.
