Coordinator, Aquatics & Facilities
The Aquatic/Facilities Coordinator reports to the Associate Director of the Recreation and Wellness Center. This position is responsible for the overall operation and supervision of the leisure and lap pool in addition to assisting with the day to day management of the Indoor Recreation and Wellness Center.
Essential Responsibilities
Assists with the overall day to day management of the Recreation and Wellness Center.
Responsible for daily aquatic operations of both the Lap and Leisure Pools.
Coordinate the aquatic programs to include, but not limited to, swim lessons, lifeguard certification, special events, and reservations.
Coordinate the Building Manager and Aquatic staff of approximately 50 employees. Areas of responsibility include recruitment, hiring, training, supervising, evaluating, and overall development.
Assists with coordinating facility reservations. Specifically, staffing of special events.
Responsible for the budget preparation and management for assigned areas.
Responsible for recommending and purchasing of equipment and supplies and tracking aquatic equipment inventory.
Other Responsibilities
Work closely with Student Government (SG) to meet the goals, objectives, and expectations of one of their primary funded agencies.
Teach the American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification course.
Assists in the marketing and assessment efforts of the Aquatic program.
Assists with the coordination of maintenance and repair of equipment.
Responsible for Risk Management in areas of responsibility.
Serve as instructor for American Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED certification program.
Provide feedback to the Associate Director of RWC Facilities regarding safety of programs, equipment & facilities accomplished by conducting daily observations by using equipment.
Facilitate and/or serve on RWC, divisional, and UCF Committees.
Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Work Experience, Preferences and Requirements:
Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience by date of hire (anticipated May 2023).
Prefer candidate to have experience working in a Collegiate Recreational Environment, Aquatics, Facilities Management, Risk Management and working with student groups.
American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED/Lifeguard Certified.
The following are desirable: American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor, Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO), and Water Safety Instructor (WSI).
Evenings and/or weekends are required as needed to manage a high level participatory program and/or use of recreation facilities.
Bilingual in order to communicate effectively with all members of the student population.
