The Assistant Director of Aquatics is a member of the department's leadership team and manages and supports the day-to-day operations of the Aquatics Center and Panther Hall pool. The position will report directly to the Associate Director for Facilities Operations managing the day to day the day-to-day operations of aquatic facilities and programs.
Manages and supports the day-to-day operations of the Aquatics Center and Panther Hall pool. Oversees pool operations and sanitation to ensure ongoing oversight of documentation and reporting with outside agencies (i.e., Department of Health).
Develops a diverse aquatics program including recreational swimming, swim lessons, master's swimming, aquatic fitness, aquatics certification courses and other aquatics programming.
Recruits, hires, trains, and supervises professional staff. Prepares and approves student and wage rate payroll.
Plans and facilitates regular staff meetings and training sessions.
Manages registration and Fusion submissions for all assigned programs.
Leads the department's Red Cross Safety Instruction.
Develops and maintains aquatics and CPR training manuals. Evaluates lifeguards and supports kayak operations.
Recommends equipment purchases for assigned facilities and programs, ensuring compliance with department best practices and university policies.
Collaborates with Reservations, Rentals and Youth Programs, Facilities & Operations and Membership and Outreach to effectively support operations.
Communicates and supports department goals and objectives that align with the mission, vision, and values of the Division of Academic and Student Affairs.
Assists in the development and implementation of all risk management plans and training for Campus Recreation. Ensures all facilities follow State and Federal statutes, industry standards and best practices.
Assists in the development and ongoing review of facility guidelines to ensure a safe recreational environment.
Assists in the development of assessment and evaluation tools to improve programs and services.
Assists in the development and ongoing review of facility guidelines to ensure a safe recreational environment
Provides ongoing feedback and recommendation for facility and program enhancement.
Assists in the development and management of assigned budgets. Serves as a University card user for departmental transactions. Adheres to University credit card policies and procedures.
Performs essential duties in any emergencies such as hurricanes, public health emergencies, and/or any other university emergency closing. The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closing with appropriate notification of a department administrator.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of experience in a related field; OR Master's degree and two (2) years of experience in a related field. Lifeguard Certification required. CPR/Standard First Aid Certification or must obtain certification within 45 days of employment.
Desired Qualifications
Master's degree in educational administration or recreation management.
Certification as a Water Safety Instructor and Lifeguard Instructor through American Red Cross.
Certified Pool Operator.
Experience in recreation aquatics in the collegiate setting.
Knowledge of basic safety and risk management practice and industry standards as it relates to Aquatics programming
