The Facilities Support Director supports the operations, maintenance, repair, and renovation for Recreational Sports pertaining to 2 multi-purpose facilities (housing over 400,000 square feet of activity space, 4 indoor and outdoor pools, an indoor tennis center, 15 acres of outdoor space and $5M in capital assets and equipment. In addition, the Facilities Support Director oversees labor support for all other program and service areas (e.g. cleaning facilities and equipment, repairing and maintaining equipment, supporting special events, field preparation and maintenance, etc.) and oversees 3 full-time assistant directors. This position reports to the Associate Director of Operations of Recreational Sports.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
Advanced project management, budgeting, contracting, and resource management skills for both capital projects and renovation and repair projects
Collaborates and coordinates large facility upgrade projects while maintaining relationships with university facility operations and outside contractors.
Ability to prioritize and efficiently process facility operations requests and tickets
Leads asset management and replacement planning for 5 large facilities, storage spaces, fitness and office equipment.
Collaborates on emergency and risk management with other member of the Recreational Sports and Office of Student Life team
Builds and maintains strong partnerships with campus partners to ensure student success and health and wellness.
Oversees processes and projects related to building operations and maintenance and the activities of a multi-craft maintenance and custodial group, such as maintenance planning, security/access control, emergency response, inspections, repairs, and corrective action.
Provides comprehensive facility oversight and assistance for teams within the department.
Participates in all aspects of project development, budget, implementation, and completion. Prepares estimates for repairs and ensures building maintenance falls within allocated budget with an emphasis on cost-containment.
Monitors and maintains inventory levels and equipment/asset conditions through regular inspections and completion of required documentation.
Manages building operations and maintenance such as maintenance planning, security/access control, and emergency response.
Coordinates fulfillment of work orders for corrective action and routine maintenance; monitors progress, escalating especially complex matters as needed.
Performs periodic scheduled and ad hoc inspections to identify cleaning and property maintenance needs.
Orders supplies/equipment when necessary.
Participates in and maintains an on-call rotation to cover emergency situations.
May provide guidance to non-exempt Licensed and Skilled Trades staff or lower-level Facility Operations Specialists. May make procedural and process recommendations to supervisor for improved operational efficiency.

Ensures adequate staffing and effective scheduling; participates and informs employment decisions for assigned staff.
Provides direct supervision and oversight of assigned staff and activities; impacts, and is held accountable for, the performance of team and/or assigned staff.
Ensures and provides training to assigned staff to improve Facility Operations; researches and identifies development opportunities for assigned staff.
Researches and stays up-to-date on new industry Facility Operations standards, best practices, and emerging technology; keeps next-level leader(s) informed of trends as well as significant problems.

EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree in business, inventory management, controls, facilities management, or related field
WORK EXPERIENCE

Preferred
8 years in Recreational Sports, business, inventory management, controls, facilities management, project management, business operations or related field
5 years of management experience in relevant field, including direct supervision of full-time staff
