The Assistant Director of Fitness & Wellness plans, coordinates, and implements various fitness and wellness programs for students, faculty, staff, and community members, in collaboration with the Campus Recreation fitness and wellness team and across Student Affairs departments. They manage two comprehensive Intramural Department program areas within Campus Recreation, including intramural/extramural sports and eGaming programs, which consist of an array of leagues and tournaments.

The Assistant Director has an appreciation of the core values of the Georgetown, expressed in the critical importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, and assists in leading a department that fosters a welcoming environment that promotes and celebrates all dimensions of difference and diversity. Expectations are executed with innovative programming for students, diverse applicant pools for employment opportunities, and working closely with campus partners to ensure these values are part of a holistic approach to recruiting diverse student employees and highlighting an inclusive atmosphere.

Specifically, the Assistant Director provides support as needed to the Campus Recreation Professional Staff, directly oversees the Group Fitness Program, supervises the Intramural and Recreational Sports Coordinator, and assists with the administration of the Personal Training Program as needed.

Work Interactions

Reporting to the Associate Director for Fitness, Wellness, and Programming, the Assistant Director for Fitness & Wellness supervises the Intramural and Recreational Sports Coordinator, and directly oversees 30+ part-time student and non-student Group Fitness Instructors, 10+ part-time student Kehoe Field Attendants, and indirectly supervises 40+ part-time student employees in the Intramural Sports Department. As well, they assist with the administration of the Personal Training Program as needed and teach 2 to 3 group fitness classes per week each semester and conduct one-on-one personal training sessions as needed.

Additionally, they assist with marketing and advertising of all fitness, wellness, intramural, and extramural programs, approve weekly payroll for the Group Fitness Department, and assist with weekly payroll for the Intramurals Department.
