Position Summary

The Assistant Director, Programs, under the direction of the Director of Campus Recreation & Wellness, is responsible for the administration, planning, organization, and day-to-day operations of the Intramural and Club Sports program, the Intramural Sports Complex, and direct supervision of the Coordinator, Outdoor Programs, and outdoor adventure programs/trips/clinics/facilities.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, mentoring, direct supervision, and evaluation of the Coordinator, Outdoor Programs and oversee the implementation and management of all outdoor adventure programs/trips/clinics/facilities
• Provide leadership, mentoring, direct supervision, and evaluation of the Sports Programs Graduate Assistant
• Administer a comprehensive intramural sports program, including programming, marketing, scheduling, budgeting, assessment, evaluation, inventory control, risk management, and facility management
• Coordinate, assess, and manage a comprehensive club sports program, to include the development and administration of policies and procedures, budget management, risk management, scheduling, and recruitment of new clubs
• Responsible for the management of the Intramural Sports Complex, to include field and facility maintenance, inventory control, as well as reservations and rentals
• Create and implement goals and strategic initiatives for the Sports and Outdoor Programs
• Administer and manage the Sports Programs budget, to include intramural sports, club sports, and intramural sports complex
• Provide leadership and direction to the Coordinator, Outdoor Programs in creating, implementing, and managing the Outdoor Programs budget
• Develop and implement assessment strategies and tools to assess participants’ needs and interests, satisfaction, and impact
• Responsible for personnel management, to include recruitment, hiring process, supervision, leadership, mentorship, and evaluation of the sport programs student staff
• Develop and implement intramural sports staff orientations and trainings

• Serve on departmental committees and work teams to accomplish collaborative goals of the department.
• Fulfill night and weekend responsibilities as needed.
• Position shall include but is not limited to the duties listed above. May perform other duties assigned to help maintain Campus Recreation & Wellness operations and services.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education, Recreation, Sports Management, Student Affairs, or related field of study.
• At least six (6) years of experience in managing university or community recreational programs (internships and graduate assistantships are acceptable for determining minimum required experience).
• At least three (3) years of personnel supervision experience.
• AED, CPR, First Aid certification or willingness to obtain within first three (3) months of employment
