Full-time Professional Administrative Staff Position. Responsible for assisting with the planning, organizing, and directing of the daily operations and personnel within Club Sports and Esports. The successful candidate will manage a comprehensive Club Sports program to include: the planning, organizing, and directing of the daily operations and personnel of the Club Sports and Esports programs. Additionally, they will have responsibilities assisting with Intramural Sports. Supervised by the Associate Director, Programs and Assessment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Organizes, develops, and manages, with the support of staff and student personnel, the Club Sports and Esports programs.
Formulates and recommends policy, procedural, and rule changes. Interprets policies within each program and facility.
Interviews, hires, trains, schedules, and evaluates support personnel.
Compiles budgetary information relative to program area.
Management of the Club Sports program with operational oversight of over student club sport organizations.
Coordinates schedule requests for practices, meets, tournaments and events for Club Sports.
Coordinates Club Sport travel for local, regional, and national trips. Manages associated travel risks on behalf of the university.
Responsible for training club sport members and staff in travel procedures and ensuring that travel is completed by clubs according to SHSU and Recreational Sports policies.
Obtains appropriate off campus facilities for club activities that cannot occur on campus.
Responsible for developing, planning, and managing Esport leagues and tournaments including in person and virtual events.
Responsible for conducting staff trainings, participant meetings, as well as any participant or staff disciplinary meetings as necessary.
Oversees equipment inventory for associated Clubs and Esports.
Completes and submits all reports, evaluations, tracking, participant/staff records, travel authorities, employee and club manuals, and other project and position-related paperwork and presentations in a timely manner.
Determines program registration fees and monetary revenue, making necessary adjustments to balance budgets.
Purchases necessary equipment and manages depreciation for associated programs.
Collaborates in the development and implementation of the safety and risk management procedures for associated Club Sports activities and Intramural events.
Ensures compliance with all department, university, and state policies for payroll processes and regulations.
Evaluates facilities to meet needs and risk management standards and differing sport governing regulations.
Works directly with student groups, organizations, departments, alumni, government officials, vendors, and others as necessary.
Prepares reports, analysis, evaluations, and proposals as required.
Promotes specific activities and coordinates publicity within a program area.
Serves on committees as needed.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Three years full-time paid experience in a professional, supervisory capacity of a recreation-oriented program or experience in a related field.
A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Master’s degree in Physical Education, Sport Management, Recreation, Business, Higher Education, Student Development, or related field.
Demonstrated success developing and managing budgets.
Demonstrated experience in a University Campus Recreation program.
Demonstrated experience administering risk management practices for recreation programs.
Professional experience administering intramural, sport club, esports and/or adult sports programming.
Demonstrated success in personnel training and supervision of multiple part time staff.
Demonstrated success in the development and implementation of recreational programs to a culturally diverse population.
Must possess well developed communicative and interpersonal skills essential to working with large and small groups.
Certification in American Red Cross CPR and First Aid.
