Cleveland State University:
Cleveland State University opened the 110,000 square foot state-of-the-art Recreation Center in August 2006. Cleveland State University is a comprehensive metropolitan university committed to providing a high-quality education to students with diverse backgrounds, experiences, interests and needs. Located in downtown Cleveland, with extended campus locations in Westlake and Solon, the University offers degrees in 117 undergraduate and graduate programs. Approximately 17,000 students attend CSU. 1,250 students live on-campus and there are close to 1,000 additional students living in the immediate area. Additionally, there are approximately 2,500 full and part-time faculty and staff employed by the University.
About Graduate Supervisors: A Graduate Supervisor at Cleveland State University will gain essential work and educational experience needed to obtain full-time employment in the sport management or exercise science field and particularly in campus recreation. A Graduate Supervisor is required to work 20 hours per week in their supervisory role and up to 8 paid hours per week in various capacities throughout the Recreation Center (e.g. Operations Supervisor, Intramural Supervisor, Membership Representative, Fitness Instructor, Personal Trainer, etc.). While Recreation Services cannot provide tuition remission to a Graduate Supervisor, the annual earnings will help offset the cost of tuition. Graduate Supervisors must be accepted into the College of Graduate Studies at Cleveland State University (minimum of 2.75 GPA).
Graduate Supervisor - Fitness & Wellness
Assists with the preparation, forecasting and monitoring of income and expense budgets as it relates to the Recreation Center
Assist the Assistant Director of Fitness & Aquatics with the implementation, evaluation, and day to day operation of the Personal Training Program
Plan, implement, and evaluate the premium fitness and wellness programs each semester at the Rec Center
Assist the Assistant Director of Fitness & Aquatics with the implementation, evaluation, and operation of the Group Fitness Instructor Training and/or Personal Fitness Instructor Training courses
Create, implement, and evaluate WellFest and other special fitness/wellness events for the Rec Center
Assist with participating in health and wellness fairs for on-campus organizations, corporate partners, and outside vendors
Assist with maintenance and repair of all program supplies
Assist with maintaining fitness assessment protocols and procedures
Purchase equipment and items as needed for specific programs with approval of Assistant Director-Fitness & Aquatics

Graduate Supervisor - Adventure Recreation
Assist in the creation and implementation of an Adventure program to include Outdoor Trips, Outdoor Instruction, and Teambuilding Initiatives.
Supervise, manage and schedule aspects of the Teambuilding, Adventure Trips and Outdoor Instruction programs.
Develop, schedule, supervise and lead diverse outdoor trip programs to include adventure trips and instructional workshops in various outdoor activities.
Assist with oversight on the teambuilding program to include facilitating campus, corporate and private group initiative and adventure education training.
Responsible for the purchasing and maintenance of outdoor equipment.
Responsible for all components of design, documentation, administration, and implementation of a well-researched Risk Management plan to manage risk and minimize the factors contributing to accidents and injury.
Assist with the oversight, training and supervision of staff hiring, scheduling, supervision and completion of bi-weekly payroll and monthly report.
Assist with the annual budget to include preparation, forecasting, and monitoring of expense and revenue as it relates to area of responsibility.
Supervise the day camp programs and spring break camp programs
Attend all Staff and Committee meetings as assigned.
Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Marketing and Advertising to create informational pieces relative to area of responsibility.
Assist with maintenance and repair of all program and service supplies.
Assist with purchasing equipment and items as needed for specific programs.

Graduate Supervisor - Facility Operations
Assist the Coordinator of Facility Operations with the oversight, training and supervision of staff, including hiring, scheduling, and completion of bi-weekly payroll for Operations Assistants, and Operations Supervisors.
Conduct part-time staff meetings with Coordinator of Facility Operations.
Create, develop, and enforce policies and procedures as it relates to Facility Operations.
Organize and implement strategies to manage CSI Software to ease overall customer service operation.
Inventory, research, and purchase products for facility usage and distribution through equipment issue.
Assist the Coordinator of Facility Operations with the planning and execution of our annual maintenance shutdown week.
Attend mandatory meetings including full-staff and assigned committee meetings.
Evening/Weekend work as required.

Graduate Supervisor - Marketing
Assist with the oversight, training and supervision of staff hiring, scheduling, and supervision, including monitoring deadlines, providing guidance and direction to staff based in a solid understanding of the CSU Rec Center brand, and addressing disciplinary infractions in regards to area and departmental guidelines.
Embrace a leadership role in cultivating our brand and online presence via strategic digital tactics that include, but are not limited to, search engine optimization (SEO) and marketing (SEM), social media marketing, mobile marketing, email marketing and content marketing. (Some on-the-job training provided)
Provide guidance and expertise on the development of multi-platform marketing campaigns and strategies.
Assist with departmental advertising campaign planning and execution.
Assist with the annual budget to include preparation, forecasting, and monitoring of expenses and revenue as it relates to marketing and advertising.
Create, develop and enforce administrative policies and procedures as it relates to Marketing.
Help with coordinating and scheduling internal and external tabling opportunities.
Execution of marketing initiatives, advertising and outreach.
Project management and facilitation.
Attend all staff and committee meetings as assigned.
