Duties: Provides leadership and direction for the daily operations of a comprehensive Fitness and Recreation program to support and promote a healthy lifestyle among members of the Texas Woman’s University community. The Director is responsible for managing, planning, organizing, marketing, promoting, staffing and evaluating all functions of the Fitness Center and fitness and recreation programs and activities on the Denton, Dallas and Houston campuses. Also responsible for tennis facilities, aquatics programs, and in collaboration with the Director of the School of Health Promotion and Kinesiology, works to ensure policies for scheduling, utilization, safety and maintenance of the indoor pool in Denton. Work is performed under minimal supervision with broad latitude for initiative and independent judgment and performance is based on the effective operation of the administrative function. The performance evaluation is conducted through the performance evaluation system and in accordance with the University Policies & Procedures. Education: Master's Degree from an accredited institution in Physical Education, Recreational Administration, Sports Management/Administration, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Health Administration, Facilities Management, or other related field required. Experience: Eight years of experience working in a comprehensive university recreation environment with six years of experience in management of professional staff; experience in a university setting is preferred. Demonstrated experience maintaining sustained partnerships with key units across the university/organization, foundational knowledge of holistic approaches to college student wellness, and knowledge of, experience working in or experience providing oversight to Gaming and E-Sports programs is required. Candidates should hold appropriate memberships and certifications, including membership to the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA) and/or American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). Strong background and expertise in areas of Group Fitness and Personal Training strongly preferred. Some experience working in and/or supervising outdoor adventure and aquatics is also preferred.
