1. Ensure the highest possible level of customer service in order to provide exceptional experiences for students, faculty, staff, guests and university partners. 2. Develop and direct the outdoor pursuits programs to include computer-based registration, inventory and scheduling for outdoor programs, workshops and trips, outdoor equipment check-out, outdoor resource center, and rock wall operations and rentals. 3. Supervise student staff including hiring, training, scheduling, mentoring, conducting evaluations and disciplinary processes and overseeing payroll. 4. Develop, implement, and assess an Outdoor Pursuits risk management plan. 5. Ensure all travel-related arrangements are completed according to departmental, divisional, and university standards including student travel paperwork, site reservations, vehicle rentals, and risk management plans. 6. Submit an annual budget and provide financial supervision necessary to achieve budget targets, carrying out best practices in financial stewardship. 7. Provide ongoing semester and annual updates on pertinent measures of success, including participation, assessment data, financial status, and area happenings. 8. Conduct regular patron surveys to ensure quality program effectiveness. 9. Plan and lead an annual Trip Leader Training course to include both classroom learning and an experiential trip. 10. Market Outdoor Pursuits facilities, programs, and services. 11. Clearance by the UTSA Police Department to be an authorized driver for student travel. 12. Assist with departmental efforts regarding student staff and participant development. 13. Participate and contribute to departmental committees. 14. Represent Campus Recreation within the campus community through committees and participation in various university functions. 15. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Three years of professional experience in outdoor recreation programs to include trip leading, equipment check-out, risk management, and rock wall operations.
(Two years of graduate assistant experience = one-year professional experience.)
Experience in planning, supervision, and program development.
Current CPR, AED and First Aid within the first 180 days of employment.
Current Wilderness First Responder Certification or ability to obtain within 180 days
American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA) / Professional Climbing Instructors Association (PCIA) Climbing Wall Instructor
Possess valid driver’s license and excellent driving record.
Excellent written and oral skills and the ability to work with diverse groups.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Criminal Background Check (CBC).
