The Aquatics Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) reports directly to the Assistant Director of Operations and Aquatics. The Aquatics GTA is accountable for implementing policies and procedures, which contribute to the direct supervision, operation and advancement of the Aquatic Programs.
Assist with the overall management and supervision and evaluation of Aquatic Programs;
Assist with recruiting, hiring, training, and scheduling of American Red Cross Head Guards, Lifeguards, Swim Instructors and Lifeguard Instructors.
Assist with scheduling adult and child private swim lessons.
Assist with planning and implementation of aquatic programs, services and special events.
Assist in the development and production of internal documentation and policy manuals.
Assist with payroll input.
Assist in overseeing the inventory and replacement of all aquatics inventory.
Assist in the development and implementation of program assessment and strategic planning.
Create and develop new marketing ideas for special events and activities.
Work cooperatively with other Campus Recreation programs and staff members assisting with departmental; Special events as needed;
Fulfill additional departmental duties as assigned.
1+ years’ experience in aquatics supervision and programming;
Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Physical Education, Sports Management or related field; Enrollment in Oklahoma State University Graduate Studies Program;
Must have a 3.0 GPA;
American Red Cross Lifeguarding
American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification (obtained within first 6 months)
American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor certification (obtained within first 6 months)
Preferred Work Experience and Requirements:
Certified Pool Operator
Experience teaching American Red Cross Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor classes
Knowledge & experience in Campus Recreation activity scheduling, registration, risk management, assessment and supervision;
Learn-to-Swim programming and supervision experience strongly preferred

COMPETITIVE SPORTS: (2)
The Competitive Sports Program is looking for professionally minded individuals that will help to administer all aspects of assigned activities within a comprehensive, highly competitive Intramural Sports and Club Sports Program. Specific areas of responsibility include team sports, individual and dual tournaments, meets, special events and oversight of clubs. Duties will include: hiring/training of student employees, publicity and promotion of events, scheduling practices/tournaments, scheduling of employees, rule revisions, discipline hearings, equipment coordination and inventory, and evaluation of activities and staff. Applicants should demonstrate ability to recruit, hire and train student personnel. Must have a strong officiating background in football, basketball, soccer and/or softball. The candidate must have two years of experience officiating and/or supervising intramural or club sport activities and tournaments. Team oriented ideas, willingness to work hard, and a desire to learn is important. Willingness to pursue recreation as a career is a plus. Knowledge and experience with using Microsoft Office and IM Leagues would be beneficial. Intramural sports is the largest student organization on campus and offers over 40 different activities with 70,000 participation's each year. Club sports have 1000 students participating from 36 active clubs.

The Employee Wellness Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) is primarily responsible for assisting the Assistant Director and Coordinator of Employee Wellness with the day-to-day operations of the employee wellness and employee fitness programs. GTA will assist with the planning, implementation and evaluation of various programs and events throughout the semester. The GTA will lead in the development and instruction of the employee fitness programs such as Employee Bootcamp and Shape-Up. The GTA will also assist in the development and management of employee health education programs.

The Group Fitness Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) is primarily responsible for assisting the Assistant Director of Fitness with the day-to-day operations of the group fitness program. Primary duties include organization and administration of free group fitness classes, the F45 program, and Fitness-on-the-Go. Additionally, this position will help develop and facilitate special programs and events throughout the semester. This position will oversee recruiting, hiring, training, and developing a staff of roughly 40 group fitness instructors. The Operations Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) is responsible for assisting in all administrative aspects of facility operations. This includes, but is not limited to, managing day-to-day operations, hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, and disciplining a student operations staff of approximately 50 employees. This position also includes assisting in the development and implementation of policies and procedures, assisting with usage reports, managing equipment room inventory, updating building signage, facilitating semesterly locker cleanout, and lost and found cleanout. In this position, the GTA will also assist with risk mitigation and ensure that all facilities offer a safe environment. The GTA is required to approve bi-weekly timecards for the student staff, attend biweekly supervisor meetings and monthly facility operations meetings, and become certified and teach CPR/AED to student staff, and other duties as assigned. Knowledge and experience with InnoSoft Fusion Software would be beneficial. The candidate must have prior experience working in operations and facilities relating to university recreation. The Outdoor Adventure Program is seeking a professionally minded individual to help administer assigned responsibilities within its program. This position will include some weekends and evening hours.Duties include: Assist with the daily operations of the trip program, indoor climbing wall, and the challenge course; Assist with the leadership of adventure trips and other program events. Trips and events occur on weekdays, weekends, and over university breaks; Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise and evaluate undergraduate student employees; Assist with the planning of Cowboy Quest for incoming Freshmen during the summer (with the potential opportunity to lead programs in the summer); Assist with risk management planning and implementation of policies, procedures, and guidelines for all programs and facilities; Maintain equipment inventory for all program areas; Assist with equipment purchase, inventory, maintenance, and inspections; Assist with Outdoor Adventures program budget planning; Assist with program policy development and implementation; Assist with the promotion of trips, events, and climbing facility; Work on special projects and serve on work committees within the Department of Wellness and the Division of Student Affairs; Assist with planning staff trainings, meetings, and other developmental opportunities for student-employees; Coordinate promotional presentations across various units on campus; Serve as a climbing wall supervisor and Trip staff member as necessary; Opportunity to lead extensive backcountry technical training trips with the OA professional staff; Other duties as assigned.

GRADUATE COLLEGE: A Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Recreation, Leisure or a related field pertaining to the position you are applying for and acceptance into the OSU Graduate College. Acceptance into a Graduate program will vary from program to program. The Leisure Studies program requires the following minimums: a 3.0 GPA from undergraduate degree and a GRE score with preferred minimums of 153-Verbal, 141-Quantitative, and a 3.5 on the composition section.
