Dixie State University (DSU) seeks an energetic individual to manage the marketing & building operations within the Human Performance Center, a new state-of-the-art campus facility that incorporates elements of student affairs (campus recreation and student activities), academic affairs (academic departments within the College of Health Sciences), administrative affairs (auxiliary operations), Intercollegiate Athletics and event management. This position is responsible for coordinating efforts across multiple campus divisions to maintain the facility, including day-to-day operations, ensuring a host of facilities services are provided to faculty, students, staff, and guests, recruiting for and managing building events, and supervising support staff within the division of Administrative Affairs.
Provide general management and oversight of the Human Performance Center, a state-of-the art building incorporating 155,000 square feet of space for campus recreation, student activities, academic departments, intercollegiate athletics, auxiliary operations, and event management.
Coordinate efforts across multiple campus divisions to maintain the facility. This includes:
Manage day-to-day building operations, including prioritization of departmental scheduling and events
Supervision of event and support staff (both employees and volunteers). This includes business operations and event set-up, and associated logistics of all event bookings of the space.
Oversee building events, working closely with various campus individuals across divisions
Recruit swim meets, basketball tournaments, rock climbing competitions and other events suited for the use of the building to promote economic development within Washington County and revenue opportunities for Dixie State University and the Human Performance Center
Develop marketing materials and market facility rentals to achieve revenue opportunities, such as to help offset the reliance on student fees
This includes special event marketing, utilizing various media vehicles to reach all segments of the public
Secure sponsorships for events and business sponsors for facility advertising. Advertising would include event fliers, posters, banners, email blasts, mailers, social media, etc.
Develop a database of qualified leads through referrals, telephone canvassing, face-to-face cold calling for business owners, direct mail, email, and networking
Create and maintain effective community partnerships associated with events. Ensure clients are satisfied with all aspects of building operations; solicit feedback for continuous improvement and troubleshoot crises that arise in a professional way.
Ensure a host of facility services are provided to faculty, students, staff, and guests
Develop an annual business plan and budget to attain monthly goals in conjunction with HPC Governing Board. Define activities targeting the achievement of revenue and building objectives; utilize feedback received towards future event management to ensure goal attainment.
Perform other duties as assigned
Bachelor's degree in Communication, Marketing, Business, Sports Management, or related field required; Master's degree in a related field preferred
At least five years' related experience in facilities management, event planning, business management, sales, marketing, etc., with demonstrated progressive levels of responsibility required; experience in managing and marketing a large-scale building or recreational facility is preferred
Experience using detailed organization, creativity, assertiveness, and adaptability to thrive in an environment that values high expectations, accountability, and balanced lifestyles; supervisory experience is preferred
Strong interpersonal skills in working with students, faculty, staff, and the public; ability to coordinate efforts across multiple divisions to ensure both integrity of the building and quality customer service to patrons
Good computer skills, specifically with Microsoft Office suite, as well as use of databases, spreadsheets, internet, and email programs; experience using Banner or comparable higher education software preferred
Strong organizational management and record-keeping skills; ability to prioritize projects and events for most successful outcomes
Ability to facilitate numerous events simultaneously, maintaining professionalism, enthusiasm, and quality customer service
Additional Salary Information: CONTRACT: Full-time (12-month) professional staff position. Annual salary of $50,000+, depending on qualifications & experience. Desired start date of May/June 2019.
