The Health and Wellness Graduate Assistant will work directly with the Campus Recreation professional staff to manage Special Events and Marketing of Fitness Programs, assist in Membership Relations, work in Student Development, and assist in other recreation programming. This Graduate Assistantship has the unique opportunity to be involved in the supervision of staff, conduct surveys, market programs, facility projects, and the administrative responsibilities associated with the programming of special events. In addition to a breadth of experience, this Graduate Assistantship provides opportunity for professional development which will result in building competencies of SCSU’s Husky Compact and Learning Outcomes:

To enable students to improve their social interactions and social skills
Create structured fitness/wellness programs if needed through one-on-one training
Enable students to learn to lead a healthier lifestyle
Positions Requirements
Admitted to a graduate degree program at SCSU
Strong professional verbal and written communication skills
High personal motivation, self-management, detail-oriented and proactive problem solver
Experience in fitness programming
Supervising experience
Preferred (but not required): Personal Training Certification, Group Exercise Certification, CPR/First Aid Certified and a background in nutrition
