University Recreation at the University of Arkansas is seeking candidates for Graduate Assistant positions in the following areas to help them achieve their mission to serve the campus community by providing a diverse selection of recreational opportunities and facilities, which are designed to enhance the quality of life for each participant:
Club Sports: Graduate Assistant in Club Sports assists in the daily operation of the Club Sports program. The GA will assist with administration of personnel management to include, but not limited to, the hiring, training, supervising, and evaluation processes for student employees. The GA will assist in the budgetary and travel management processes in conjunction with training and leadership development workshops for club sport leaders that enhance the participatory, recreational, and competitive experiences of Club Sports participants. This position will also be responsible for developing and marketing Club Sports activities through the use of social media and media publications. Additional duties as assigned. Facilities: Graduate Assistant in Facilities assists in the day to day operations of the Donna Axum Fitness Center, University Recreation Fitness Center, and the HPER building. Responsibilities include hiring, training, scheduling, managing, and evaluating fitness center attendants and facility assistants, as well as conducting regular staff training/in-services. The GA will assist with purchasing, equipment usage, safety, inventory, and maintenance of facility equipment as well as coordinate internal (UREC) facility reservations. The GA will assist in the development, marketing, coordination, and evaluation of programs and special events and collaborative department programming efforts. Additional duties as assigned. Intramural Sports: Graduate Assistant in Intramural Sports assists with the daily operation of the Intramural Sports program. The GA will assist with the supervision and advisement of a comprehensive intramural sports program that includes personnel management; hiring, training, supervising, and evaluation processes for student employees- program assistants, officials, supervisors. The GA will also maintain registrations for team and tournament sports through FusionIM, plan and facilitate interactive officials, program assistants and supervisor training, and assist in the establishment to collaborate with campus partners to expand the intramural sports program through special events that increase participation and exposure. Student Staff Development and Assessment: Graduate Assistant of Student Staff Development and Assessment assists with coordinating and leading new employee onboarding, developing and implementing trainings, activities, and programs promoting professional and personal development, coordinating all staff trainings, participating in departmental assessment efforts, and conducting assessment of student trainings and development. Compensation: Graduate Assistants receive a $14,000 stipend annually plus tuition waiver (fees excluded) and professional development stipend (pending funding) for a minimum of 28 work hours per week. Each Graduate Assistantship begins July 1, 2018 and concludes June 30, 2019 with the option to renew for a 2nd year.
